This is a wonderful method book! Finally, a place where I can see the chords that go with songs that I have heard for years and love so much. And a personal compliment to you, Mr. Archuleta: you have a great voice! When will the next book be published?
Gracias por esta obra magnifica!

Michael Archuleta shows you how to play guitar using the basic chords. The two CD's cover each lesson and then the songs to learn with music fill, in this case Guitarron and Guitar and what sounds like Vihuela too. Play along and you are doing Mariachi! You learn strum methods unique to Mexican music and the songs are well known and easy to play. Highly recommended for the beginner that has no interest in playing those annoying blues and folk tunes commonly seen in guitar instructional. Wow It’s about time, I'm in my forties and I always wanted to learn how to play guitar. I tried several times but I always got frustrated and gave up. I was brought up listening to Mariachi music. But as a kid I wanted to play and listen to rock music. Now that I'm married and with children, I still Love rock. But something about Mariachi music goes back to the roots. So when I saw the Mariachi book I said "Wow It's About Time." Someone finally wrote a book on how to play this timeless music. I started learning and found the book real easy to understand. The two cd's with songs and exercises and great graphics and photos helped me to understand the fundamentals of guitar. Now I know I'll never be great but now, I can play along with my friends when they come over and jam, I can at least play the rhythms to back them up. I Highly recommend this book to any one who wants to learn the guitar. Mariachi Music is for all walks of life. This book offers a fun and challenging way to learn the guitar. The exercises and songs offer an alternative to other beginning guitar books. Two CD's come with the book. The information offers a strong foundation in music fundamentals for students who want to learn. I highly recommended the book to anyone who has the desire to learn the guitar. The Mariachi approach is for everyone. As a teacher I have used the method for my students. I tell them that learning the fundamentals of the guitar no matter what style or approach can get you started into the path of music. What is the status of Book #2? I must say that the first book was fabulous. It was easy to use and to follow. Great work!

Michael,
Congrats on the book!
It's been a lot of fun learning to play Mariachi rhythms. The exercises are well thoughtout and effective, and really are among the best we've seen in book/CD format. We're currently learning general Latin guitar, and your book has been a real big help in moving between chords and getting the rhythms down. And did I remember to say that it's been fun? We can hardly wait for your next book. Please let us know when it's published. It brings me back to Saturdays of the mid 1960's at Cherry Auction and Flea market in Fresno. Always there were several grupos playing, usually under the shade of the few big trees in the area (summer!). At a very moving service for the late Father Bill O'Donnell in Berkeley ealier this month, they brought him out in a large UFW procession to "De Colores" performed by several local ctivist musicians. Now when my wife & I hear it, tears still come to our eyes. Best regards for you & your family,
